Position Paper
Role of Infant Feeding in the UK

INFORM, with guidance from an independent panel of paediatric healthcare and nutrition specialists, has prepared a position paper on 'The Role of Infant Feeding in the UK' to provide a broad-based overview of the role of infant formulas in the UK and to be used as a basis for policy and practice development.

This position paper includes sections on breast and formula feeding, a review of the benefits of breastfeeding, the role of infant formula in the UK, its history and composition, and a separate section discussing when complementary foods should be introduced. The paper, which is extensively referenced, reviews the evidence base, suggests future implications and makes recommendations.
