Nutritionally complete standard foods are designed to be the sole source of
nutrition for patients suffering from, or at risk of developing, disease-related
malnutrition. This may be due to prolonged under-nutrition, a reduced ability to
absorb nutrients or an increased nutrient requirement due to their disease state.
Products in this category are not specific to a particular patient group or
disease but can be used by a wide variety of patients who cannot eat everyday foods
to meet their nutrient requirements, e.g. patients with cancer, inflammatory
bowel disease, short bowel syndrome, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis,
trauma, stroke, etc. |
