Soya Infant Formulas - Your Questions Answered
Summary

Article
Did you know that about 25% of babies in the USA are fed soya infant formulas a year. This represents between 600,000 and 1 million babies last year with a total of 20 million infants fed soya infant formula in the past 30 years. During this time there have been no reported health problems or adverse effects and studies investigating possible long-term effects have revealed no cause for concern.

In the UK, soya infant formulas have traditionally been recommended on medical advice only and this is reflected on labels and in health professional advice. In contrast to the US only about 2% UK babies are fed soya infant formula with the majority of sales on prescription.

Interest in soya infant formulas has increased in recent years due to the discovery that they contain compounds called phytoestrogens or isoflavones. Some people are concerned about the effect these compounds may have on infants and adults, and conflicting scientific evidence has fuelled the controversy. So if you want to find out more why not download a copy of our new publication “Soya Infant formulas – Your Questions Answered”.
